Markin’s Galfan®-coated steel tubing — fully compliant with SAE J356 and SAE J526 — delivers outstanding corrosion resistance per ASTM B117 for demanding automotive and industrial applications. Markin Tubing has developed a proprietary coating process which has proven to be a cost-effective solution for corrosion resistance as compared with other base tubing materials, such as copper, stainless steel, and aluminum, and other coatings, such as PVF, PVDF, and Nylon. Our Galfan® coating includes a 95% zinc and 5% aluminum layer with an aluminum-rich gray or black epoxy topcoat, delivering well over 3,000 hours of corrosion resistance. Galfan®-coated tubing is ideal for rigorous, demanding automotive applications, including transmission cooling lines, brake lines, fuel lines, and many others.
Markin’s Galfan®-coated tubing is readily formable and bendable, eliminating the extra time and logistics, as well as handling and environmental costs, associated with traditional secondary plating or coating processes.
Galfan® tubing is produced in a hot-dip process similar to galvanizing, and the combined corrosion resistance of the Galfan® and epoxy coatings together far outpace the sum of their individual performances. With Galfan®-coated corrosion-resistant steel tubing from Markin, customers can lower costs while maintaining critical performance levels.
At Markin, we have multiple Galfan® mills, enabling us to meet both high-volume, and highly-variable customer demands. Our Galfan®-coated tubing is available in outer diameters ranging from 3/16″ to 7/8″ with wall thicknesses from 0.024″ to 0.065″.
