Plant Manager

Markin Tubing is a leading manufacturer of tight tolerance, coated and uncoated steel tubing used in global automotive, hydraulic and appliance markets.  We are recruiting for a Plant Manager to lead our Wyoming, NY manufacturing operations to achieve customer satisfaction and meet critical business objectives by building a safe, lean, and metrics-driven manufacturing culture. The Plant Manager will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer and be part of creating, communicating, and executing the vision and goals of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities: The Plant Manager is directly responsible for managing manufacturing, engineering, and maintenance while collaborating with functional leads in Quality, Supply Chain, and EH&S to ensure alignment, execution, and attainment of plant goals.

 

Additional responsibilities include the following.

  • Ensure the voice of the customer is respected and customer issues are given appropriate response.
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance with a Fast Response culture focused on Safety, Quality, Delivery/Throughput, and Cost.
  • Establish a culture of respect for shop floor organization with emphasis on visual control and plant cleanliness.
  • Drive organization to manage capital asset maintenance both in terms of plant facilities and productive equipment.
  • Provide direction and development to plant supervision.
  • Ensure local agreement is adhered to by union & management alike.
  • Develop initiatives and management processes to meet budget commitments.
  • Develop and implement continuous improvement processes to support lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ensure plant operations abide by IATF-16949 Quality Management System and ISO-14001 Environmental Management System.

 

Essential skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of progressively challenging experience in a management role in a unionized manufacturing environment, including first line supervision
  • Working knowledge of budgets, forecasting, and cost control
  • Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures including lean manufacturing
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of success developing others
  • Team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strategic thinking, system development, structured problem solving
  • Quality orientation and attention to detail
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Computer proficiency
